More than a song

At Elim Sound’s School of Worship, God is building confidence that reaches beyond the platform and into local church life.

Lyn didn’t arrive at the School of Worship with a big story to tell. She came with something simpler: a desire to grow. She wanted to develop her singing, to feel more confident in what she was doing, and to serve her church well.

What she didn’t expect was how gently and thoroughly God would meet her in the process.

“The School of Worship has been a life-changing experience,” Lyn says. “I’ve grown tremendously in my singing and deepened my faith, becoming stronger in Christ. Every session was a joy and a blessing to be part of.”

It’s a familiar moment for many worship leaders. You can learn the notes, the harmonies, the structure of a set, but still feel unsure of yourself when you step forward. For Wendy, the most significant change happened in the one-to-one coaching sessions. She found God building something sturdier than stage confidence: a quiet courage that carried into everyday life. “Attending the School of Worship, especially the coaching sessions, has been instrumental in building my confidence not only on the stage during worship but also in my personal life,” she reflects.

Melvina talks about another kind of gift: realising she wasn’t alone. The friendships she formed with worship leaders from other churches became a place of encouragement, understanding, and shared hunger for God. “It has been wonderful gathering with others with a heart for worship,” she says. “I’ve made some good friends in other churches around the country.”

And sometimes the change doesn’t stop with the individual. Toby saw the fruit at home too: “It really helped me pull my worship team together,” he says.

Now in its tenth year, more than 280 worship leaders and team members have stepped into this journey and across their stories runs the same thread: God using training, coaching and community to strengthen people. When worship leaders grow in confidence, character and spiritual depth, the impact reaches far beyond the stage and into the life of the local church.
